From June 13th to 15th 2022, the 3rd International SPAD Sensor Workshop (ISSW) was successfully held online. More than 40 well-known scholars and engineers in the field of single photon detection and related applications were invited to share speech on this conference in a three-day schedule. As the top international conference in the SPAD industry, ISSW showed participants the latest technological breakthroughs and hotspots in SPAD technology from various technical aspects such as SPAD equipment, technology, and modeling, as well as from various application fields such as depth sensing, optical communication, and biomedical spectroscopy.
Invited by the organizer of the conference, Adaps Photonics is honored to be one of the top sponsors of this conference and the only one in China. Dr. Chao Zhang, the co-founder and chief technology officer, and Yu Qin, senior system solution engineer, delivered speech at the meeting to analyze the current demand for SPAD in consumer electronics and automotive applications, and introduced the dToF series products of Adaps Photonics. The interaction was quite active during and after the speech, regarding the interests showed by global scholars on Adaps Photonics’ progress.
Adaps Photonics also participated in the event with its latest generation of single photon imaging chip ADS6400. The chip is a spot imaging chip developed by Adaps Photonics for low power consumption and high accuracy applications. It adopts the most advanced SPAD technology and 3D stacking technology of Adaps Photonics to achieve 940nm PDE > 15%, up to 60 fps frame rate, and the theoretical ranging range from 0.1m to 19m. ADS6400 can balance ranging and power consumption according to different scenarios. In the indoor environment, ADS6400 can maintain at a low power consumption mode for ranging, and the Rx power consumption can be as low as 55mW, reaching the world's leading level. During the same time, unlike similar products from iToF approach, the accuracy of this Spot dToF chip does not decrease while the ranging distance increases. In addition, ADS6400 has been redesigned and optimized for strong outdoor ambient light resistance, which can achieve full working distance against 50klux ambient light.
In this year, ISSW cheered the SPAD industry with rapid technology advancements and blooming industry applications. From consumer electronics to transportation and logistics, from the traditional CIS imaging field to the future-oriented 3D CIS metaverse. Whether to realize the integration of virtual and reality, or to perform more accurate perception in real world, it is inseparable from the new vision of advanced 3D sensor technology. The series of SPAD products represented by ADS6400 will provide the true low power consumption and high accuracy depth sensing solutions for these applications, making the integration of AR/MR closer and closer to open its "smart eyes".
